chondrocyte implantation
Dr. James Cahill – an Orthopedic Surgeon from Hackensack, NJ – discusses theAutologous Chondrocyte Implantation (ACI) technique. Marc Rambaldi, Director of Physical Therapy for IvyRehab Hackensack, takes us through the post surgical rehab process.

What is an Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation?

Autologous chondrocyte implantation, or ACI, is a procedure that was developed in the late 1980s to treat areas of cartilage damage in the knee. ACI has also been used rarely in other joints, such as the ankle, but it is most commonly performed in the knee.
The idea of an ACI procedure is to take a few cartilage cells from the knee, grow them in the lab, and once millions of cells have been grown they are implanted into the area of cartilage damage. (Source: About.com)

Post-operative outcomes of atypical femoral subtrochanteric fracture in patients on bisphosphonate therapy

Post-operative outcomes of atypical femoral subtrochanteric fracture in patients on bisphosphonate therapy shows that a large proportion of the patients required revision surgery and suffered implant failurehttp://tiny.cc/1vlyfx ‪#‎trauma‬ ‪#‎bonejointj‬
Management of bisphosphonate-associated subtrochanteric fractures remains opinion- or consensus-based. There are limited data regarding the outcomes of this fracture.
