Abstract

BACKGROUND:Although the supramalleolar osteotomy can shift the weight-bearing axis laterally, it cannot reconstruct a widened ankle mortise caused by progression of medial ankle osteoarthritis. The aim of this study was to evaluate radiographic and clinical outcomes of distal tibial osteotomy without fibular osteotomy in patients with medial ankle osteoarthritis and mortise widening.

CONCLUSIONS:Distal tibial osteotomy without fibular osteotomy reduces pain in the short term in patients with ankle arthritis, a widened mortise, and minimal talar tilt.

Resumen

ANTECEDENTES:
Aunque la osteotomía supramaleolar puede desplazar el eje de soporte de pesolateralmente, no se puede reconstruir una mortaja del tobillo ensanchada causada por la progresión de la artrosis de tobillo medial. El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar los resultados clínicos y radiológicos de la osteotomía tibial distal sin osteotomía del peronéen pacientes con artrosis de tobillo medial y el ensanchamiento de la mortaja.

CONCLUSIONES:
Osteotomía tibial distal sin osteotomía del peroné reduce el dolor a corto plazo en pacientes con artritis de tobillo, una mortaja ensanchada y un mínimo de inclinación del astrágalo.
